Joel Walter, CR
N. Joel Walter, President of NJW Construction, Inc., has worked in all facets of the construction business, building and remodeling homes in the central Ohio area. Joel is a graduate of Ohio University with Bachelor in International Business and Business Management degrees. From 1987 to 1996 he worked in retail sales and was a manager of a lumber company. The job requirements included kitchen and bath design, contractor sales and providing home estimates. In 1996, upon leaving retail, Joel founded NJW Construction, Inc.
On January 26th, 2006, Joel achieved the prestigious Certified Remodeler (CR) status. This designation proves the remodeling contractor’s superior knowledge, technical comprehension and skill in remodeling. On January 6th, 2010, Joel completed a Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting Course and is certified for lead-based paint removal; recertification completed December of 2014.
Kenny has worked within the residential construction field for 28 years and has been a member of the NJW Construction team since 1996; when the doors opened. As NJW Construction’s Field Superintendent, Kenny is in charge of quality control and coordinates with subcontractors in all aspects of ongoing projects. Kenny completed a Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting Course in 2010 and is certified for lead-based paint removal; recertification completed December of 2014.
Kimberly brings to NJW detail-oriented skills. She oversees the daily office operations; responsibilities include administrative, bookkeeping, A/P, A/R and human resource policies and procedures. Kimberly maintains compliance with insurance policies for cities worked in and with subcontractors updating policies and procedures regularly. Kimberly also handles a wide range of functions using a combination of creative, organizational, and writing skills when advertising for NJW.
Stacey, a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design degree, specializing in Interior Space Design for Commercial Businesses, comes to NJW Construction with 12 years of residential interior design and product experience. Focus areas of expertise include kitchen and bath design, commercial and residential specialty roofing product and installation technical consulting, interior design consulting, and custom mural development and design. All areas of residential experience for Stacey have involved direct customer contact. This continues to hold true as she consults on various levels, specifically sales and design, with our NJW Construction clients. Additional office assignments for Stacey include: bid packages and proposals development, residential material purchasing and advertising development.
Dakota has been working in the residential construction field for seven years. He completed a two year, leading-edge educational program in the residential and commercial building trade at The Career and Technology Education Center in Newark, Ohio. He also completed a construction-oriented, safety within the workplace course with OSHA. In January, 2015, Dakota completed a Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting Course and is certified for lead-based paint removal.
Kim has worked in the construction industry for 35 years and brings his expertise as a trim and finish carpenter to NJW. Finish carpentry is more than interior trim; it includes siding, decking and even roofing, anything the owner will see after moving in. Rough carpenters evolve into finish carpenters by learning how to measure, mark and cut more accurately. With practice, splitting the pencil line with a saw-cut and working to closer tolerances become second nature.
Jacob came to NJW in 2012 having just completed his bachelor’s degree in Construction Management with a minor in Business Administration from The Ohio State University. Jacob also completed a 30 hour construction safety within the workplace course with OSHA. Jacob’s day-to-day activities include estimating, reviewing 3D renderings, coordinating projects, materials, and trade subcontractors, and organizing clients’ project review meetings. Jacob’s degree makes him effective and efficient in performing job take-offs and creating bid packages and proposals. His professional manner ensures that the homeowners feel at ease from the beginning of the project to the end.
Sales Consultant and Project Manager
John’s business career brings to our Construction firm 20 plus years of building and remodeling expertise and 35 years of business management specialization.
John attended Ohio University of Athens for 2 years for Business Management and 2 years at Kent State University. The course studies from these colleges attended lead to his advancement from retail sales employee to Yard Manager of a National Lumber Company. John later carried his office knowledge to include even more field knowledge; as a Superintendent for a Custom Home Build Company. More recently his career advanced him to a National account Manager which over time advanced to V.P. of Operations for a local manufacturing facility.
N.J.W. is excited that John choose to come and work with us, bringing his many years of field experience to our team. Key areas of specific business values include; strong client communication skills, organizational and leadership vision, field concern resolution experience, as well as, strategic planning, project scheduling and specification expertise. All of this is interjected into John’s daily office and field assignments which include but are not limited to; sales consultant, bid package, estimate development and our project liaison.
General Field Construction Laborer
Austin Noland has engaged in practical field experience in the area of residential construction since 2006. He completed a specialized 3 year apprenticeship training in the electrical field prior to committing to NJW. Thus, making Austin adept as a jack-of-many-trades. Since 2010, he has proven his value to NJW by undertaking daily duties ranging from demolition, structural framing, roofing, plumbing and, of course, electrical. Austin preforms many of the “behind the scenes” tasks that make our renovations, remodels and new builds successful.
