a) Check with your local Better Business Bureau to see if the contractor is listed with them or if there are any complaints against the contractor. (Angie's List is another place to check on contractors.)
b) Ask for references of their last 3 jobs performed, 2 jobs comparable to the project you are going to have completed, don’t be afraid to ask about the quality of work performed and was there any unexpected complications or circumstances that came up; how did the contractor handle these problems, was it handled in a timely and professional manner. We have an extensive list of clients ready to discuss their experience in building with N.J.W.
c) Check your local building associations; Chamber of Commerce, Nari, Better Business Bureau, National Association of Remodeling, ect. (These associations often do screenings anc consumer based ratings on their members.)
d) Ask about warranties and understand the warranties and guarantees. Know who is responsible for construction problems you may encounter months down the road. We carry a one year warranty on new builds and remodels
3) Is N.J.W. Construction insured?
N.J.W. Construction is fully insured carrying liability insurance and workers compensation
for each employee working on any job.
4) I don't want to go over budget...how can I be sure? <TOP>
We will build for your needs, your style and within a budget that you can afford and feel comfortable with. Ask and understand what is included in the price of the contract you are about to sign. The price of the contract can vary substantially and depends upon choices that the client makes.
Our focus is our clients; we build relationships by getting to personally know our clients, understanding the project and listening to what they are looking for in their contractor and what they want out of the project. We look forward to the input of our clients throughout all phases, from the building aspect to the amenities; their home will be as unique as they are; a place they will love to call… home.
5) Does the contractor provide any financing?
N.J.W. offers financing with GE consumer Finance; Secured loans little to no equity required- these loans are protected by an asset or collateral of some sort. Unsecured loans no security required giving you a fixed payment not backed by collateral, usually the interest rate will run a little higher. Revolving lines of credit an agreement to lend a specific amount to you the borrower, and to allow that amount to be borrowed again once it has been repaid
6) How do I narrow down plans for my project?
We will build from your plans and blueprints or use our in house design team to draw and customize blueprints for you. In Addition, if you have designs drawn by our design team and build with N.J.W. we will credit the cost of your designs towards your down payment upon signing a contract.
7) What kind of skills or certifications do your workers hold? <TOP>
The employees working at N.J.W. are highly skilled craftsmen with 10 to 30 years experience in the construction industry. Three of N.J. W's emplayees have earned certifications; Joel Walter and Scott Burns are Certified Remodelers (CR) and Michael Sheely is a Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler. (CKBR)

8) How do I avoid a dispute concerning discrepancies with the work?
Written agreements, estimates and contracts helps to avoid any disputes by providing to you a written description detailing services to be performed and how much it will cost the homeowner to have the project completed and 3D designs help clients to see the final project before any construction begins.
9) What is a Design agreement?
A design agreement is a conceptual set of blueprints with a design agreement(contract)signed by the client.
